Digital photography - detailing the use of Photoshop 5 L.E.  To return to main prospectus click Here

Introduction

The course does not cover how to use digital cameras but how to modify the image file.  Photoshop Elements 5,6 and & are more readily available and cheaper so the exercises are arranged in a way that they could be done using Elements.  There is one exception, one exercise- the use of curves, this is used in case someone has a copy of a higher level of Adobe Photoshop.

The necessary images to demonstrate the various functions are supplied on the class disc.  You are welcome to borrow or make a copy for home use.

The course tends to vary around that particular classes capabilities but potentially covers the following:

Simple things :

Replacing a sky, producing sepia or B/W images from a coloured one.

Artistic use of images in a montage - cloning, copy and paste, moving image on a larger one.

Elimination of red eye and spots, replacing eyes, mouth from one image to another- particularly useful when two or three photos have been taken of a group and inevitably some one has their eyes closed or is talking.

Restoring old prints - motion blur - bluring or sharpening images etc.

It is possible to go on and on but this should have given you a feel for the course.

This course does not promote poor photography - it is much better to focus and expose correctly but if you do have trouble have a look at this
